10 Days Til’ Christmas Eve

December 14, 2011

Here it is at day 10.  The kids have just a few days left before winter break begins.  Today’s idea is perfect for a favorite teacher.  So if you haven’t had the chance to get that special teacher a special gift, here’s an idea!  As stated in yesterday’s post, I’ll be using yesterday’s idea, and including it in another treat.  Pictured here is another one of my favorites!

Gingerbread Boy Treat Box

Gingerbread Boy Cardholder, Ornaments and Treats!

Gingerbread Boy Treat Box

This treat box measures 4 1/2 x 9″.  The “window” is created using Stampin’ Up! acrylic sheets.  In the the gingerbread boy sample, I included the gift card holder, two “gingerbread” ornaments, and a few Hershey nuggets.  I’m also sharing a few other treat boxes that I recently sold at a few boutiques that I participated in.
As I stated earlier, Hello Kitty has been added to my “collection”.  Here I have two of the different styles that were rather popular.  The “dressy” Hello Kitty came with an assortment of Hello Kitty accessories: a Hello Kitty ornament,  Hello Kitty pencils, Hello Kitty note pad, and candy.

Hello Kitty Treats!

The Elf  Hello Kitty gift set included:  Cookies, Hot Coccoa, and Candy, as did the christmas stocking and penguin treat box.

Christmas Stocking Treat Box

I hope these treat boxes help with a few of your gift solutions.  I did not include any measurements or instructions for the treat boxes because  I hope to post a “How To” video later tonight or tomorrow.  If you would like instructions, or need them sooner, send me an e-mail, and I’ll get them to you.

Have a Stampingly Wonderful Day!

11 Days and Counting!

Gift card holders galore!  I have an assortment of gift card holders to share with you today.  I’ll start with the easiest to make.  Shown here is a flat fold style gift card holder.  Multiple layers on the cover to “pretty it up” and to let it’s recipient know just how special they are.  The dimensions for this card holder is 4 1/4  x 11″, so you can make two of these with a standard 8 1/2 x 11″ sheet of cardstock.  Score at 4 1/4 to create front flap; then at 8 3/4 to create bottom fold. Then secure the fold with two small brads at each right and left top corner, this will create your “pocket” to place your gift card inside.

Gift card holder #2 was created by my daughter.  As you can see, this embossed pillow box with added scallop dimensional, including adorable graphic from Whimsey Doodle Design, makes an adorable stocking stuffer, table favor, and of course, gift card holder :0).  The pillow box measures 3 3/4 x 4 3/4.

This third gift card holder is another 3 dimensional box.  I absolutely love this little tote pattern.  This tote is created using one 12 x 12 sheet of cardstock.  I used this project in my “Summer in Paris” workshop.  This gift card holder is decorated with Hello Kitty, which by the way, is being  used quite a bit this holiday season due to the fact it happens to be a  favorite of my little cousin Marcela.  Thank you  Marcela for your “inspiration” :0)

And…..last but not least, my favorite.  A square gift box with room not only for a gift card holder, but also some favorite chocolate treats!

This box measures 4 x 4″.  The bottom half is created with a 7 x 7″ square piece of cardstock, scored at 1 1/2″ on all four sides.  The top of the box is created with a 6 1/4 x 6 1/4″ square piece of cardstock.  I used the discontinued Stampin’ Up! Sale-A-Bration stamp set “BLISS” to stamp the top.  All four sides of the top are scored at 1 1/8″.

The inside liner is created with a 3 15/16 x 6 7/8″ cut and scored piece of cardstock.  Score at 2 1/2″, 4″, and 5 1/2″.  You will apply adhesive to the inner 1 1/2″ margin so you can create a center divider.

Using copy paper ( 3 1/2 x 6 1/4), I stamped the paper using the same design as on the top of the box.  I used the copy paper to wrap the gift card, and then wrapped with ribbon and created a bow.  Taking and stamping more copy paper (1 1/8 x 3 1/2″), I stamped the paper with the poinsettia flower, also included in this stamp set, and used the copy paper to wrap 4 pieces of  Hershey Nuggets.  Two Hershey miniature chocolate bars fit perfectly as well :0)

Well I hope you enjoyed what I had to share for today.  You can check back tomorrow to see how I’m using one of the gift card holders as a gift, inside another gift…  have a stampingly wonderful day!

The Twelve Days Left Til’ Christmas

December 12, 2011

Oh Dear!
Twelve, just twelve more days ’til Christmas Eve!  Is everyone ready?  I’m still decorating, I’ve only purchased a few presents, just now sorting through my holiday recipes, and hoping to have all of my Christmas cards mailed by tomorrow…..hoping, I’m really hoping…. So if there are any of you out there just like me, come join me in my “12 Days to get ready for Christmas Journey”.  I’ll share a project a day to help with gift ideas, recipe ideas, and holiday treats.  Lets count down to Christmas, and see how much we can accomplish.
O.k, so let’s begin with project one:

Cookie Gift Kits
These adorable gable boxes carry two little batches of holiday cookies. Talk about perfect timing, my daughter’s cookie dough fundraiser just arrived!  These kits that I put together were also “Thank You” gifts for everyone who purchased cookie dough from the high school fundraiser.  They include the gable box, a gift tag, two cellophane bags for the two small batches of cookies, two tags to label the cookie batches, two decorative twist ties to wrap the bags shut, and a cute bow to place on the box.  These are perfect little gifts to give to neighbors and friends.  Hope this gift idea helps…check back tomorrow for another holiday treat idea!

Trying Something New

Filed Under Uncategorized | Leave a Comment

This past August,  I came up with an idea for A Very Merry Unbirthday.  Back when I was a kid, I remember my mom taking me and my sister to see the latest Disney cartoon, Alice In Wonderland.  I remember thinking back then,  it certainly was a different type of story.  Lots of make-believe…lots of this and that, I know I certainly couldn’t figure it out, “so what was it all about”…but it was fun to watch.  My favorite scene however,  I could tell you right off the bat… A Very Merry Unbirthday Mad Hatter Tea Party!  What a great idea I thought…if you celebrated everybody’s unbirthday every day, then every day you had something to celebrate.  Every day then, would be a celebration!  And so, my first Unbirthday Party to plan was all the family birthdays I missed from this past year…like my sister Lydia… everybody missed her’s because she was vacationing in Venice.  Then there was my baby sister Christina….no, I can’t think of any excuse for that one.  We made Andrew’s birthday, but I did miss Juan, my Brother-in-Law’s birthday.  Oh, I forgot, the first birthday I missed was Ernie’s, I always forget his because we share the same birthday…either I’m too focused about myself and how “I’m” going to celebrate, or, I’m dreading celebrating it and I don’t want to think about it.   Oh, and last but not least, Gabriel, my sweet little nephew.  It was his second birthday this year and his mom decided that because they had such a big First Birthday, the second would be low key…no birthday party this year.   So the celebration was very quick.  It consisted of dinner, A Mad Hatter Cake, cupcakes and gifts.

Next on the agenda,
I missed my little cousin’s birthday party while I was “vacationing” in Angels Camp this past summer.  Because I got a head start with my friends without my family, I had no way to get to Stockton where the party was being held.  Because my husband and kids were to join me after the party, they joined the celebration without me.  So…. I needed to make up my absence…and what better way to do that than by having a Mad Hatter Very Merry Unbirthday Tea Party.  First we started with a project of decorating our “Mad Hats”….as you can see everyone enjoyed this project!  Next I had the kids think up a Wonderfully Mad idea…..as they thought up of their idea, we made 6X6 scrapbook pages to place their photo of them in their Mad Hatter hats, along with a description of their Wonderfully Mad idea.  Next came a quick snack of flower shaped finger sandwiches and chips, then onto the lighting of the cupcakes.  Everyone picked a cupcake with a lit candle and we then sang a short version of the Merry Unirthday song
A Very Merry Unbirthday To You,To Me
A Very Merry Unbirthday To Me, To You
Now Blow The Candles Out My Dear
So All Your Dreams Come True,
A Very Merry Unbirthday To Youuuuuu…..
Next, everyone anxiously awaited the cutting of the cakes.  They were absolutely beautiful!  Creative Cakes of Visalia custom made the cakes for this special occasion, along with all the cookies that we used as favors.  So what’s next?  Themed party favors and invitations of course!  Keep visiting as I try new ideas!

Running a little late, but finally managed to get to my computer…I’ve been running all day, errands, last minute shopping for tomorrow’s Fond Farewell Party, and not to mention getting things ready for the Clearance Sale at the The Pretty Polka Dot Boutique.  So here are a few projects included in the “Life Is Sweet – Strawberries & Cherries Galore” theme for the Summer Fun Workshop.  This little tote would make an adorable gift tote, or it can also be used as an adorable table centerpiece.  The paper strawberries shown hold Jolly Rancher candies- Yum!   Along side is a “You’re So Sweet” greeting card perfect for a sweet little thank you.  There is still time to register for Friday & Saturday’s workshop.  Hope you can make it!

Valentine Workshop

Filed Under Workshops | Leave a Comment

This Sunday will be the first seasonal workshop of the year.  This Valentine workshop has somewhat of a theme:  “Love Does The Body Good”, sound familiar?  I’m not sure if I’m dating myself in using this.  Does the dairy industry still use this milk slogan anymore?  Anyhow, as you can see the reason for the “theme name” is simply because of the projects.  Included in this workshop are 2 milk carton treat boxes with their carrier, 5 mini milk carton favors, 2 5 x 7 greeting cards, 1 gift bag, 1 gift tag, 1 topper, and your choice of either a 12 x 12 scrapbook page OR an 8 x8 2 page scrapbook layout.  The cost is $20.00.  If you are interested in attending, or purchasing the workshop, just send me an e-mail to let me know.  Workshop begins at 1:00pm Sunday afternoon.  To attend the workshop this Sunday, I’ll need an RSVP by 10:00pm Saturday evening( Jan.23)  Hope you can make it!
